HPA Series
High Pressure Analyzers
The
HPA Series are volumetric high pressure gas adsorption analyzers designed for
the determination of equilibrium isotherms using the static volumetric method.
This technique consists of dosing a known amount of gas (adsorbate) into the
sample chamber. When the sample reaches equilibrium with the adsorbate gas the
initial and final equilibrium pressures are recorded. This data is then
used to calculate the volume of gas adsorbed by the sample. The procedure is
repeated at given pressure intervals until the maximum pressure, pre-selected by
the operator, is reached. Each of the resulting equilibrium points (volume
adsorbed and equilibrium pressure) is then plotted to provide an isotherm.
The HPA Series are fully automated and integrated instruments capable of
measuring isotherms at pressures up to 20 atmospheres (Model HPA 300), 33
atmospheres (Model HPA 500), and 69 atmospheres (Model HPA 1000) with a variety
of adsorbate gases. Two instrument versions are available in each pressure
range: single port versions include a built in outgassing station, and the four
port version has a separate stand alone outgassing unit. The four port analyzes
four samples simultaneously.
