The Godat Refractometers

The GODAT refractometers have a long tradition. In the years 1857 to 1863, Ernst Abbe worked in Jena (Germany) and laid the foundations of refractometry. The GODAT process refractometer is the advancement of the Carl Zeiss REMAT refractometer developed in Jena.

Process Refractometer PRD60

Adaptable...
The GODAT process refractometers are available in various shapes and materials. Depending on the application, inline units with nominal diameters DN25 to DN100 or bypass models can be used. Varivent or DIN process connections reflect customer needs. For the chemical industry, intrinsically safe units can be delivered.

Looking through the sample...
GODAT refractometers, unlike all other refractometers, work with transmitted light. The whole sample determines the measuring value, and not only a thin layer on the surface. The result is an accurate and drift free measurement. Cleaning devices for the optical components are not required to guarantee long term and stable results.

Electronics, Inline Refractometer PRD60

Multitalented...
The transmitter electronics converts the refractive index together with the measured temperature in the desired measuring quantity. In the case of multicomponent systems, additional external values are needed to determine the concentration. Different enclosures are available for field, desktop or panel use.

Applications
  • refractive index and concentration measurements on liquids
  • concentration measurements on soft drinks and juices (°Brix, °Oechsle)
  • determination of wort (°Plato)
  • beer analysis (alcohol, wort and original wort) is possible in combination with a density meter
Advantages
  • ideal adaptivity to the existing structure due to the use of standardized inline enclosures (VARIVENT, APV, TOYO)
  • the result is not influenced by coating on the optical surfaces
  • high measuring sensitivity and long term stability
  • independent of viscosity, not sensitive to bubbles
  • The modular system permits a flexible adaptation to the metering application
  • user-friendly, service-friendly
  • special sensors for high pressure and high temperature available (up to 300°C)
Laboratory Refractometer

Measuring desk for alcohol and extract metering

The laboratory refractometers are always delivered as adapted measuring desk for a given application. Please submit us your application!
Applications
  • refractive index and concentration measurement on any two components mixture
  • concentration measurement on non alcoholic beverages (°Brix)
  • metering of wine must (°Öchsle)
  • alcohol or extract metering of alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, spirits)
Advantages
  • Same accuracy as the Zeiss immersion refractometer with wider measuring range and without subjective error
  • Density cell can be connected directly to the lab refractometer LR 60-L.
  • all calculations necessary for concentration, alcohol and extract metering are integrated in the LR 60-L
  • Automatic measuring procedure including log printout (pumping and tempering time adjustable)
  • small sample volume (10 to 20 ml)
  • short analytical procedure (max. 3 min.)
  • connection of a sampler possible (30 samples max.)
  • Serial interface for uplink to PC or lab data acquisition system
